Florian's Filter — W16 2026

I have been spending a lot of time lately thinking about where automation ends and true agency begins. It is easy to get lost in the hype of generative models, but the real interest lies in how these technologies integrate into our workflows and even our philosophical outlooks. This week's finds range from agentic simulations to much-needed utilities for my Mac.

Web finds

  • GitHub - Dominien/brunnfeld-agentic-world: Medieval village economy simulation
A simulation of a medieval village populated by up to 1000 LLM agents by Marco Patzelt. It offers a look at the future, or perhaps the past, through the lens of supply chains and market pressure... crazy idea, and obviously a lot of love and thought went into making it real.
  • Job description for n8n's internal Automation and AI lead
An exploration of how one of the leading workflow automation platforms manages its own internal AI use and automation. It is interesting to how they think about such a job and the approach their listing mirrors.
  • Are You Just a .md File?
"DeathByClawd" is a biting parody of the 'replaced by AI' trope that explores whether SaaS models can be replaced by Claude Skills. Makes you laugh out loud, and then think, and then laugh again. First put in your competitors' web address, then muster up the courage to put in your own.

Tools

  • Spokenly - Free Voice to Text for Mac | Offline AI Dictation
An AI dictation app for Mac and iPhone that offers a local-only mode for privacy (that mode is completely free). The ability to run Parakeet v3 on iOS and use it via an integrated keyboard is an awesome upgrade from iOS' built in dictation feature - it works really really well!
  • DockDoor - Free Alt+Tab and Dock Preview Window Switcher for Mac
A free utility for Mac that provides an enhanced window switcher. This tool has replaced Alt-Tab on my machine, and with the latest update has solved an issue that has been nagging me for years: it glues the dock to the screen of your choosing - because Mac OS has the habit of erratically moving the dock to another screen when you are extending your screen. No more!
